Capital Projects, Housing & Public Works
As with most First Nations in Canada, the Stz置minus First Nation is responsible for the maintenance, repair and renewal of community infrastructure, including roads, snow removal, water distribution and sewage disposal. We also undertake capital projects as funding permits and housing construction and repair. The Nation also provides garbage and recycling collection for community members. Stz置minus manages and maintains a variety of public buildings, including a Health Centre, Daycare and Community Centre/Gymnasium, as well as the Stz置minus Administration Building.
Fire protection is provided, through agreement, by the North Oyster Fire Department and ambulance service by the Town of Ladysmith. Current staffing in this Department includes a Maintenance Coordinator, a Maintenance Worker, A Sewer and Water Systems Technician and a sanitary collection crew.
