    STZ’UMINUS FIRST NATIONEDUCATION – ELDER IN RESIDENCE

    Summary:

    Stz’uminus First Nation Education Department is seeking 2 Elder in Residence for our Stz’uminus First Nation Community School.

    Essential qualities in an Elder are as follows:

    • Disciplined and committed to a lifetime of learning
    • Must be knowledgeable and semi-fluent in Hul’qumi’num
    • Physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually in tune with self
    • Lives a healthy lifestyle within the parameters of traditional values
    • Provides help as directed or requested regarding classroom support
    • Able to bring traditional values and life ways into contemporary urban life and living in a

      practical way

    • Treats all people in a respectful and caring manner
    • Good role model for young students at the Stz’uminus Community School
    • Ability to work with individuals in a “Role-Model” capacity, providing a caring and patient

      environment for children and co-workers

    • Must be able to maintain an active schedule to work with the fast pace of middle and high

      school students

      Hours of Work:

      30 hours per week for a temporary position

      Start Date:

      Immediately
