    Snow removal operator

    Job Posting – Snow Removal Operator (On-Call)
    The Snow Removal Operators are responsible for driving and operating two trucks equipped with snowplows and sand/salt spreaders through the 2019-2020 winter season. Work includes de-icing and removal of snow on roads/parking lots/walkways for Stz’uminus First Nation (SFN) during inclement weather.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Operate all assigned vehicles, tools and equipment; keep secure from potential loss, theft or use by unauthorized personnel
    • Complete daily maintenance checks on vehicles & equipment
    • Drive and operate equipment for extended periods during snow/ice events
    • Work, days, nights and weekends as required
    • Work in inclement weather
    • Complete training as required for SFN
    • Ground maintenance which may include snow shoveling, ice scraping, and salting
    • Communicate respectfully with supervisors and staff; interact with the public in a professional manner
    • Operate radio during significant snow/ice events
    • Must be willing to be called out all hours of the day & night on short notice
    • Perform snow & ice removal duties as assigned by supervisor; report issues to supervisor for review
    • Attend staff meetings as required
    • Adhere to SFN Policies
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Completion of Grade 12 preferred or a combination of experience and education
    • Cultural values, ethics, and honesty essential
    • Snowplow/sander experience, and Heavy Equipment Operator experience preferred
    • Must have Valid Class 5 or higher BC Drivers Licence
    • Must be willing to provide a Driver’s abstract, to prove good driving record
    • Six years of licenced driving experience preferred
    • Applicant should be physically fit
    • First Aid training or ready to take as a job requirement
    • Clear Criminal Record Required
